Already doing the work?
Get it formally recognised.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) turns the skills you've built on the job into a nationally recognised qualification. You don't repeat what you already know. You show what you can do, and a Learning Coach helps you prove it.
What is RPL?
RPL is a formal assessment of the skills and knowledge you already have. It doesn't matter whether you learned them at work, running a business, volunteering or managing projects. We map your real experience against national industry standards. Where it meets the standard, it counts towards a qualification.
It isn't a shortcut, and it isn't a certificate for attendance. It's recognition of competence you can demonstrate.
Is RPL right for you?
RPL suits people whose responsibilities have grown faster than their paperwork:
- Supervisors and team leaders who lead people every day but don't hold a leadership qualification
- Business owners and founders running operations, finances and compliance without a formal credential
- Career changers with years of transferable experience who need it recognised in a new field
- Event and project coordinators who've delivered real work and want the qualification to match
If you've been in a role for a while and think "I already do most of this", it's worth a conversation.

How it works
Free skills recognition check
A short conversation about your role, responsibilities and goals. We'll tell you honestly whether RPL is a good fit and which qualification matches your experience.
Map your experience
Your Learning Coach works through the qualification with you and identifies where your existing work already meets the standard.
Gather your evidence
Together we collect evidence from your real work: documents you've produced, projects you've led and confirmation from people who've seen you do it.
Professional conversation
A structured discussion with an assessor about how you approach your work. It's a chance to show what you know, not a test.
Recognition
Once competence is confirmed, you're issued a nationally recognised qualification or statement of attainment by Learnivation (RTO 45570).
What counts as evidence?
Evidence comes from the work you already do. Common examples include:
- Position descriptions, reports, plans and procedures you've written
- Projects, events or initiatives you've led, and their outcomes
- Emails, meeting notes or records that show your decisions and leadership
- A supervisor, client or colleague confirming your performance
- Photos or videos of you at work
- Previous training certificates, even if they're not formal qualifications
Not sure if something counts? Bring it to your check. Your Learning Coach will help you work out what's useful.
What if there are gaps?
Most people find they already meet a large part of the standard, with a few gaps. That's normal.
Where a gap shows up, you complete targeted development in that area only, through coaching, applied workplace tasks or short learning sessions. Then it's recognised along with everything else.
You only do the learning you need
No fixed timetable. Progress depends on what you can show, not time spent. See our programs.

For employers: recognise your team
Your people are already performing. RPL formalises that capability against national standards, without taking them off the job. Recognise supervisors in their current roles, build a qualified workforce for tenders and compliance, and close real skill gaps with targeted development.
Frequently asked questions
Is an RPL qualification the same as one gained through study?
Yes. It's the same nationally recognised qualification, issued to the same standard.
Do I need formal qualifications to apply?
No. RPL is built for people whose experience is greater than their paperwork.
What if I don't have much documentation?
That's common. Third-party confirmation, professional conversations and workplace observation can fill the gaps.
Can I do RPL if I'm not on the Sunshine Coast?
Yes. We're based on the Sunshine Coast, Noosa and Gympie, and work with people Australia wide.
What happens if I'm not ready?
We'll tell you during the free check and suggest the program that will get you there.
