Beyond the classroom

This isn’t event theory. It’s real events.

No simulations and no practice scenarios. Most people learn about events. You’ll be part of making them happen.

1

Real events

Every project is a live production where your contribution counts.

2

Real crews

Work alongside event teams, mentors and like-minded young people.

3

Real experience

Film and media, community festivals, business events and more.

The Event Spark edge

Own your work. Belong to a crew.

Event Spark is about finding the part of an event that lights you up, whether that’s film, design, music, people or logistics, and really owning it. You’ll lead your own work and take responsibility for the outcome, with the freedom to follow your interests.

And you’re never on your own. Your crew backs you, includes you and encourages you to be your best, the kind of team that makes you want to be a better human, not just a better events person.

Owning your role

Taking responsibility for your part of the event, from idea to delivery.

Leading your own work

Planning, prioritising and following through, without needing to be chased.

Following your passion

Working in the area of events that interests you most.

Crew collaboration

Supporting each other, sharing the load and celebrating the wins together.

Thinking on your feet

Adapting calmly when plans change on the day, because they will.

Showing up for people

Who delivers your training

Learnivation Pty Ltd (RTO 45570) is responsible for all training and assessment and issues your SIT30522 Certificate III in Events. Cultivate the Chaos delivers work immersion, mentoring and event experiences on Learnivation’s behalf under a written third-party agreement.

Entry requirements

No formal prerequisites. You’ll have a capability conversation, complete a core skills (language, literacy and numeracy) check as part of enrolment and need a Unique Student Identifier (USI). Learners under 18 need parent or guardian consent.

How you’re assessed

Through your real work: reflections, a Portfolio of Events and skills observed by your assessor at two live events. Results are Satisfactory or Not Yet Satisfactory, and you can resubmit. Recognition of prior learning (RPL) and credit transfer are available.

Work experience

Weekly work immersion with Cultivate the Chaos, plus working two live events: Nurture Youth Festival and STUFFit Student Film Festival. Consent for off-site public event work and photography is part of enrolment.

Fees and payment

$6,000 in total. Pay upfront, or pay a one-off $500 program deposit and then from $100 a week on a payment plan. Fees cover coaching, mentoring, work experience, learning resources and assessment. Refunds follow our fees and refund policy in the Learner Playbook.

Counting towards your QCE

Still at school? A completed Certificate III may contribute credits towards your QCE. It depends on your learning account, so check with your school.

Safe and supported

Every adult working with our learners holds a Blue Card, work immersion is supervised and you’ll complete a site safety induction before each event. See our Learn Safe Guide.

Support while you learn

Your Learning Coach supports your learning and wellbeing every week, with extra support available if you need it. Everything about how we support you is in the Learner Playbook.

Completing the qualification depends on meeting all training and assessment requirements. Course information is current as of October 2026 and may change; we’ll always confirm details with you before you enrol.

The basics

When and where do sessions run?

Every Friday from 9am to 3pm during Queensland school terms, at 40 Howard Street, Nambour. The next crew starts in February 2027.

What is the core focus of the program?

You learn by doing. Working towards the SIT30522 Certificate III in Events (RTO 45570), your crew takes responsibility for the steps needed to deliver real events, including Nurture Youth Festival and the STUFFit Student Film Festival screening. A new crew leads each year, so every event is a fresh reflection of the team’s vision.

Who leads the program?
  • Training and assessment: Dani Duncan and Kathy Bradley from Learnivation (RTO 45570) deliver the training and assessment and sign off on your qualification.
  • Program coordination and pathways: Robyn Cook from Cultivate the Chaos makes sure you gain real event experience and helps build your individual work pathway.
What does a typical week look like?

A mix of applied learning and industry immersion. Mornings are with your Learning Coach, mapping what you learn straight to the live tasks for upcoming events. Afternoons are hands-on work immersion with Cultivate the Chaos, so your decisions are backed by real industry practice.

The experience

What kind of creative projects will I work on?

Every crew is different, but past crews have:

  • created thank-you video content for sponsors and produced radio ads
  • taken part in professional photo shoots and connected with the local screen community
  • provided event support at local festivals and attended film festivals
  • screen printed T-shirts and bags, and designed information booths and audience journeys through venues
  • contributed to STUFFit Yaps, the weekly student broadcast on YouTube
Do I need any experience?

No. Crews start with the basics and build up to running real events, with your Learning Coach and mentors alongside you.

What will it feel like?

Watch the student reflections and 2025 highlights reel to see the culture of the crew in action.

Is it suitable for homeschoolers?

Absolutely. Homeschoolers often thrive here because it’s project-based, collaborative and practical. In 2025 we had five homeschool students, and four of them stepped up into Spark Leadership.

Outcomes and pathways

What are the career outcomes?

The SIT30522 Certificate III in Events is nationally recognised, and the skills carry across industries. Recent Event Spark learners have gone on to casual work with a regional council, work on local film sets and with event companies, starting their own workshop business for teens and building a freelance career across creative roles.

Everyone’s path is different and no job outcome is guaranteed, but you’ll leave with real experience, a portfolio and people who can vouch for you.

What can I do after Event Spark?

Many learners step up into Spark Leadership, working towards the BSB40520 Certificate IV in Leadership and Management through RPL.

Does it count towards the QCE?

A completed Certificate III may contribute credits towards your QCE. It depends on your learning account, so check with your school.

Practical questions

What if I miss a Friday?

Talk to your Learning Coach. There are no due dates, and we help you catch up through learn.learnivation and your next session.

Is it safe?

All adults working with learners hold a Blue Card, work immersion is supervised, and you’ll complete a site safety induction before each event.

How much does it cost?

$6,000 in total. Pay upfront, or pay a one-off $500 program deposit and then from $100 a week on a payment plan.

Who can I contact for more information?
  • Robyn Cook, Vocational and Program Coordinator and Mentor, Cultivate the Chaos: 0458 723 590, [email protected]. Your main contact for events experience and general program coordination.
