Why choose Learnivation

No classroom. No cookie-cutter. Just you and your coach.

You learn best when the learning fits you, so we build your traineeship around the way you think, the work you already do and the events you’ll bring to life.

1

One-on-one, always

Your own Learning Coach from the first week to the last, in person or over Zoom. Never lost at the back of a class.

2

Shaped to how you learn

We get to know how you think and learn, then shape every session around it, whether you’re a talker, a doer or a quiet processor.

3

No wasted days

No block release, no sitting through content you already know. Every hour goes into real work in your job.

4

Progress you can see

One action a week, a portfolio of real work that’s yours to keep, and a nationally recognised qualification at the end.

Is it a fit

Is this for you?

You might be starting work with an event company, venue or festival, or helping a business or community organisation run its events. Your role could involve administration, registrations, customer service, production support or working with the event crew.

You don’t need to know how to run an event before you begin. You do need a workplace where you can contribute to real events, including planning tasks and event-day work. Your Learning Coach will help you build your skills as you go.

How it works

A coach beside you, experience you can show

You’ll work with the same Learning Coach throughout your traineeship. In each coaching session, you’ll talk about the events and tasks ahead of you and agree on a practical action to take at work. At your next session, you’ll review how it went and decide what to work on next.

Your plans, documents and event-day work form your Portfolio of Events. Your coach helps you understand what evidence is needed for the qualification and how to show the skills you’ve developed. You’ll also meet with your employer at the end of each mission to review your progress together.

The evidence

Why coaching beats the classroom

  • Coaching multiplies what training delivers. In a well-known public-sector study, managers who did training alone lifted their productivity by 22%. Those who had training followed by one-on-one coaching lifted it by 88% (Olivero, Bane and Kopelman, 1997)
  • Skills stick when you practise them in the job. Research on workplace learning found as few as 5% of people use a new skill after theory and demonstration alone, rising to around 95% when coaching in the job is added (Joyce and Showers, 2002)
  • Learn it, try it, reflect, repeat. That is the rhythm every session is built on: one action to try in your real work, then time with your coach to make sense of how it went.
  • Coaches, not lecturers. Every Learnivation educator is a certified Learning Coach, educated in the neuroscience of coaching.

The two missions

What you’ll do

Your traineeship has two missions. You’ll use the events happening in your workplace to practise new skills and show what you can do.

Mission 1 of 2Months 1–9

Mission 1: Plan Events

Find out what an event needs before the doors open. You’ll contribute to plans, explore venues and sites, prepare documents and budgets, and help create information or promotions for a real event.

You may create: an event plan, venue specifications and site inspection notes, templates, a budget and social media content.

Mission 2 of 2Months 10–18

Mission 2: Run Events

Put the plans into action. You’ll help with registrations, bookings, customer service and production tasks while learning to communicate with others and work safely on event days. Your assessing coach will observe you working across at least one complete event, from set-up to pack-down.

You may create: registration records, a run sheet, logistics checklists and records of your contribution to a live event.

What you finish with

What you can take from the experience

You’ll have opportunities to build skills in event planning, production support, customer service and working with a team. You’ll also have a portfolio of real event work that shows what you contributed.

If you successfully complete all training and assessment requirements, you’ll receive SIT30522 Certificate III in Events. Your experience may help you explore further study or roles in event coordination, venue operations and event administration.
