Why choose Learnivation

No classroom. No cookie-cutter. Just you and your coach.

You learn best when the learning fits you, so we build your traineeship around the way you think, the work you already do and the leader you’re becoming.

1

One-on-one, always

Your own Learning Coach from the first week to the last, in person or over Zoom. Never lost at the back of a class.

2

Shaped to how you learn

We get to know how you think and learn, then shape every session around it, whether you’re a talker, a doer or a quiet processor.

3

No wasted days

No block release, no sitting through content you already know. Every hour goes into real work in your job.

4

Progress you can see

One action a week, a portfolio of real work that’s yours to keep, and a nationally recognised qualification at the end.

Is it a fit

Is this for you?

You might be stepping into your first team leader role, taking on more responsibility as a supervisor or coordinator, or already finding that people look to you for direction.

You don’t need to have leadership figured out before you begin. You do need a workplace where you can practise: working with a team, contributing to decisions and taking responsibility for an improvement project. Your Learning Coach will help you make sense of what happens as you go.

How it works

A coach beside you, work you can use

You’ll work with the same Learning Coach throughout your traineeship. In each coaching session, you’ll discuss a real situation from work and agree on a practical action to try. At your next session, you’ll review what happened and decide what to work on next.

Your plans, team activities and project work form your Portfolio of Leadership. Your coach helps you understand what evidence is needed for the qualification and how to show the skills you’ve developed. You’ll also meet with your employer at the end of each mission to review your progress together.

The evidence

Why coaching beats the classroom

  • Coaching multiplies what training delivers. In a well-known public-sector study, managers who did training alone lifted their productivity by 22%. Those who had training followed by one-on-one coaching lifted it by 88% (Olivero, Bane and Kopelman, 1997)
  • Skills stick when you practise them in the job. Research on workplace learning found as few as 5% of people use a new skill after theory and demonstration alone, rising to around 95% when coaching in the job is added (Joyce and Showers, 2002)
  • Learn it, try it, reflect, repeat. That is the rhythm every session is built on: one action to try in your real work, then time with your coach to make sense of how it went.
  • Coaches, not lecturers. Every Learnivation educator is a certified Learning Coach, educated in the neuroscience of coaching.

The three missions

What you’ll do

Your traineeship has three missions. Each one builds on the work you do in your role.

Mission 1 of 3Months 1–8

Mission 1: Lead Self

Explore how you work, what matters to you and how you respond to challenges. You’ll look at your strengths, wellbeing and development needs, then practise bringing those insights into your day-to-day leadership.

You may create: a Leadership Charter, a personal development plan and a wellbeing plan.

Mission 2 of 3Months 9–16

Mission 2: Lead Others

Put your leadership into practice with the people around you. You’ll work on communication and relationships, facilitate team activities and help your team develop and try an idea. Your Learning Coach will observe you leading a team session.

You may create: a Crew Charter, a team communication plan, records of team sessions and an initiative developed with your team.

Mission 3 of 3Months 17–24

Mission 3: Lead Projects

Take responsibility for an improvement connected to your workplace. You’ll plan the work, use information to guide your decisions, involve others where needed and review what happened. You’ll bring it together in your Discovery Project.

You may create: an operational plan, an analysis of relevant information, a record of the improvement process and a project report.

What you finish with

What you can take from the experience

You’ll have opportunities to practise communicating clearly, supporting a team, coordinating work and making informed decisions. You’ll also have a project and a portfolio you can use to show how you applied your leadership skills.

If you successfully complete all training and assessment requirements, you’ll receive BSB40520 Certificate IV in Leadership and Management. What comes next could include growing further in your current role or exploring other leadership opportunities.
